I survived a trip to Las Vegas…With Food Allergies

I’m allergic to dairy and gluten.  They totally mess with my body in ways not right.  So I thought it would be easy to eat in Las Vegas….I was wrong.  However; I fell upon two restaurants with really nice chef’s and both who came to my table…sooo…I want to share my experiences because I know others travel to Vegas and may have food allergies and my hope is that others reply to this post with places they’ve found in Vegas to be allergy friendly…

Fellini’s Italian Restaurant

I had the hubby walk with me about a mile and a half to a wedding we were attending.  However; after the wedding it was very cold and the first hotel on the way back was The Stratosphere Hotel and well I saw this restaurant and didn’t think to even ask but I did and low and behold the hostess let me know that Chef Siano created a menu just for people with Gluten allergies.  Now throw in my dairy allergy and I was worried BUT the pasta was amazing and I found a sauce totally dairy free.  I was in heaven.  After the breakfast earlier that day I had to have and choppy lunch this was a perfect meal to end my day.

Most places have a very small Gluten Free menu but this restaurant doesn’t.  They have many options and even GF pizza and many meat dishes as well.

Chef Siano is very kind and decided there should be a GF menu after hearing about all of those with Celiac.

Check out their website and if you’re in Vegas and want an Italian meal and you can’t have Gluten or Dairy this is the place for you.  They’ve even been voted best Italian in Vegas.

Sidewalk Cafe

Trying to find breakfast in Vegas doesn’t seem like a hard thing but it is if you’re with me and your daughter wants to eat at The Paris Hotel which you find you can’t because everything has gluten and dairy in it and there are no options for you BUT if you walk to where it connects with Bally’s Hotel and you eat at the Sidewalk Cafe there are options for you.

Not only is it a Rat Pack themed restaurant with great Keno, like a mom and pop restaurant but the server Victor, Manager Emma, and Chef Kalani are all amazing and great for putting up with me.  I can be picky.

The buffet wasn’t going to work for me.  The eggs included dairy.  I tried to order my meal making sure to say, no dairy or gluten and the chef came out and told me I couldn’t get the potatoes but that he’d prepare me a fruit side and boy was the fruit yummy too.  Here’s a image of my breakfast that was also brought out to me by the chef:

So if you are looking for a great breakfast in Vegas with a Chef who listens and a manager who is kind to toddlers this is the place for you!

Finally, if you know of other places in Vegas that are allergy friendly let me know.  I’d love to know if there’s even a resource book for this?

This has also shown me I need to be prepared.  The 2nd restaurant didn’t have a GF or Dairy Free menu but the Chef was nice.  The first day breakfast and lunch was terrible for me and my family ate just fine.  I need to make sure to bring things with me if I can to get by.  I did bring protein powder BUT forgot the mixer because sometimes we just forget things.

All in all I’m very happy I found these two restaurants and hope to visit them again one day.
