I was recently told “You are a very creative soul”
I’ve always wanted to do crafting things or make things but I’ve always been afraid that if I don’t do it right, if it doesn’t come out right, then it’s not worth trying. In doing so I’ve realized that I haven’t tried much of what I’ve wanted to or stepped outside my comfortable box.
I’ve decided to embrace my creative side and to begin I’m throwing a party for my daughter this weekend. The Tween Princess turned 12 September 6th but between school and the holiday around her birthday we always wait until October to have a party.
We are kicking off the Halloween season for all.
To prepare I wanted to do a vintage feel for her event and the first thing to master, the thing that scares me the most…..THE POM POM’s that hang from the ceiling. I did those first.
The ended up being pretty easy to do and I’m sure with practice I can master them even more.
DIY Pom Pom Directions….
- Take 8 sheets of tissue paper. Fold like an accordion into 1 to 1/2 inch strips.
- When done fold in half and take wire and wrap around the middle.
- Cut the ends to give it shape. However you’d like it.
- Poof out the Pom Pom by taking a sheet at a time and poofing it out.
- Use thick ribbon (or whatever you want) and tie around the middle to hang up the Pom Pom.
- Hang up your Pom Pom.
Yes, these aren’t directions like you find online but it worked for me.
I used a thicker ribbon because I wanted a vintage feel and I think for my first Pom Pom EVER! I did an excellent job. Stay tuned until after the party when I reveal the whole look.
