“Let’s Get Physical” Weight Loss Challenge Week 1

Today marks the completion of Week 1 of the “Let’s get Physical” Weight Loss Challenge.

I had an up and down kind of week.  For starters…..

  • My little girl turned 12.  This meant baking cupcakes, a mini cake, and a chocolate chip cake. (I ended up having two cupcakes, yep I’m being honest here)
  • There was extra toasted onion GF Matzo in the cupboard.
  • My husband brought home Blackberry Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.
  • Disneyland was forcing guests to eat Mickey Sourdough bread.
  • Pizza bites were shoved down my throat.

So that being said I went up a couple of pounds this week at the beginning but I lost it and actually lost 1.2 lbs. this week!  Go me.

How did I change things…..

I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.  I’m supposed to eat low glycemic because of this and avoid the evil three….

  1. White Potatoes
  2. White Rice
  3. Pasta

This being said I went Gluten Free in February and because I thought gluten was making me sad too but turns out if your Ferritin is super low as mine was it can cause all sorts of lovely things but still I ate gluten free.  Doctors said Gluten Free would be good for PCOS but it’s very expensive and so my husband and I talked and when I wasn’t struggling with this extra “Liam” weight I ate differently so this is Pre Liam…..

I ate mostly sugar free, lots of protein, lots of veggies (the good ones that are low glycemic) and good fruit’s too.  No more bananas or oranges and a lot of gluten free items are made with corn or white rice both no no’s 😦

I change things and this worked!  I feel better too!  I can eat as much of the three items listed (protein, veggies, fruit) and still feel good.  I can have low glycemic pasta or other things once or twice a week and not late into the evening.  I also found a large bottle of Voss water that holds 28.74 ounces of water.  Two of those is already 57.48 ounces plus add ice and little glasses of water.

My gem of a find this week is I started juicing.  My amazing friend gave me a juicer and I had this book “The Top 100 Juices” to turbo charge your body with vitamins and minerals and low and behold there was a recipe for a juice that was great for women with PCOS.  Yep!!!

Apple, Grape, Pomegranate Juice

4 Apples

25 Seedless Grapes

1 Pomegranate Cut in half

That’s all I needed for a yummy drink!  Good for me too filled with fiber and high water content and it’s great for weight loss too!  Win Win!

I wasn’t perfect this week and I received in the mail Pumpkin Bark yesterday but I feel strong.  You notice no exercise this past week well that changes today or I will attempt for it to change and to be honest about my growing exercise or lack there of.

Until next week!
