It’s hard to watch my 13 year old grow up. She’s a beautiful girl and she’s coming into her own. She was born with blonde hair and beautiful blue/gray eyes. She’s decided Auburn Red is her hair color and you know she gets good grades and she’s not in trouble and I can choose the battles I want to have with her and hair isn’t one of them.
This young lady came to me and asked if I could take her to The Grove to meet a friend there. A friend who is a boy. I took her. His parents were there too and it wasn’t like they were alone and they’re only friends. Still you could see that she found this boy to be attractive. I figured this out because I wasn’t allowed to make eye contact them while we were there.
I’m always so worried about her because of what happened to her in sixth grade. The bullying was so bad and I was sure she’d always want to hide at home but between therapy to heal and a great school for 7th and now 8th grade she’s really grown. She’s told me that she if fine and that she’s gotten stronger and that people won’t be able to bully her any longer.
I saw this evening that she really is growing up. She’s no longer my little girl but really she will always be my little girl.
