Day 164 – The Purge – 37th Year Photo/Moi Challenge

My Review as a Gal who enjoys being scared and watching movies in only one way “Chick Vision” I can tell you I was disappointed.

I was hoping and I know it’s a reach for something like “The Strangers” which kept me in suspense the whole time.  Also keep in mind that this movie had a lot of gore so for all of you (and I know there are many) this may be the film for you BUT for moi lover of all things suspenseful and ghostly this didn’t hold up.

The saving grace of this film was two, OK three things….

1. Nath and I were able to make comments like “Really” and no one seemed to mind because they themselves were doing the same thing.

2. Ethan Hawke was so much hotter than he was in Sinister even when in that film he was Nerdy Dreamy (yes we see movies for the “Him” factor too.  Seriously don’t lie and say they’re all great actors) and….

3. My new BFFL who told me about “Movie Pass” which I may need to look into and he too was enjoying the comfort of the bar in front of us as a foot rest.  He also had random words fly out of his mouth.  Instant bonding.

I think people will either love or feel “OK” about this film.  We had one idea and our new BFFL he thought it would be like that Jodie Foster film where she’s locked inside her home with her daughter (don’t want to look it up, sorry) and I “The Strangers” so they did do a good job getting us into the theatre but did I fully enjoy it?  Sadly I must say “No”.

Until the next spooky review next month….
