Day 16 – Escape – 37th Year Photo/Moi Challenge

I love to escape when things aren’t right.  I think a lot of us do.  I don’t want to feel what I’m going through and it’s better to escape.

In walked Ballet in 2008.  I wasn’t feeling good about my body, my self image just sucked so I started Ballet at Santa Monica Community College and this love was born.  I’m back in a weekly class and I’m some place totally different in my mind while I do ballet.  I feel free.

My love for classical music doesn’t hurt with this form of dance either.  Ballet can be so romantic and dark and I find a lot of classical music to be as well.

This is my book of notes from a class I took.  Whenever I need to refer to a barre set I come to this book.  I’ve been going through this emotions lately and I’ve fallen back into ballet and it does help.  Weird how dancing can help.

I know I will never be a famous ballerina but the point isn’t to be.  The point is to do something that makes me totally happy and feel good.  We all want things like that right?

  1. I think it’s awesome that you are doing something you love, knowing that you aren’t going to be a professional at it. For many, many years, I stopped drawing because I believed I wouldn’t be good enough. So much lost time doing something I love!

    1. Thanks! Have you started drawing again? Would love to see some of your work!

      1. Yup. I just started drawing comics. Really bad ones. But SO much fun. I’ll show you if you drop by some time. Of course, I could come to you…
