Picture it, a mere nine years ago, two people embarked on a new relationship after both had recently been divorced. They met through Tinder, and the rest is history.
Not so quick. My partner and I became domestic partners during COVID, when it was on the rise, and who knew what was going to happen. With him being a Type 1 Diabetic and me having a rare artery condition, we wanted to be able to have the rights of a married couple without being married yet. So in CA, it is a Domestic Partnership.
Nine years later, we are about to take a much-needed trip away for the weekend, sans kids, and relax. My partner broke his shoulder skateboarding, and we needed a break. It had been a hard month, give or take.
Before we left, as we were standing in the kitchen, he proposed, on one knee. The first for us both. My ex didn’t get on one knee, and he didn’t get on one knee for his ex either. As he put it, he was sick, thought he was dying, and gave her the ring. Men always think they’re dying when they’re sick.
I said “Yes” and he gave me this box below. We have an inside joke about Joe Piscapo, and it was fitting that I received a ring from the Joe Piscapo line of jewelry. I’m grateful we are a Tinder success story.
