Another Reason “MY” Blog is Important to MOI

I am not a political person. I am more of a people pleaser because I do not like to upset anyone. That has been a problem of mine for as long as I can remember. I also believe in researching anything political because I want to be informed. Furthermore, I feel that you do not have a voice if you do not vote. For instance, if you support a candidate but do not vote, you cannot come at me with your views. I do not care who you are.

I am noticing that people who will not be affected by any policy change and who believe they will benefit from another four years with our President do not realize they are affecting many. It is not just about illegal aliens, the price of groceries, or the cost of gasoline. It is so much more. Why care if you will not have your employment, health, or freedoms at risk? Women who have an ectopic pregnancy or a birth that could kill them will have to deliver their baby or live with a dead baby inside of them because what would take care of the health risk is an abortion. Women raped will have to give birth to their child bringing on additional trauma. I guess if this would not affect you, why care?

I do not know what the future of this country will hold, but I do know that I have an LBGTQ child and a bonus child; I am helping a nephew with Autism, a niece in the Foster Care system, and I have a son with learning disabilities. I also know how we pay a lot of money to keep my type 1 diabetic husband alive. He, in turn, has a son with type 1 diabetes. I doubt anyone really reads random blogs, but if you do read this and think, “They should just lose weight,” then you are sadly uneducated on type 1 diabetes. Finally, I have a rare artery disease, autism, and other health issues. With Covered CA, I can afford my medical premium. Without it, I will not be able to.

There is so much I feel about this election, and I do not want to make waves on social media because I use it to keep in touch with elderly relatives, to keep up with a mommy group I have been a part of for more than 24 years, and to keep in touch with others. I do not make that space about politics. Yet, it is getting harder to keep my mouth shut.

Those I know who voted for our current President will NOT benefit from anything he wants to do. He does not care about the poor or the middle class. I see the prices of groceries, which is a big reason people voted for him, already going up. It is not about where we get our information; it is about looking past what the media tells us and using our brains to see if we will benefit from what is happening. It is about thinking of our family and friends and seeing if anyone we care about will be harmed. It is about kindness to our fellow humans. The more this month has passed, the more I see that people do not care as much as they claim for their fellow humans. They care only for their comfort, and at what cost?

Since this is my blog, I can voice what I want, and I just had to write that I am so saddened by our country. I do not see things getting any better. I will continue to do my part, be kind to my fellow humans, keep my side of the street clean, fight for the underdog, and love hard.
