Day 165 – Birthday Fun – 37th Year Photo/Moi Challenge

8 Jun 20130608-214313.jpg

Today we celebrated Secret Liam Pants third birthday at Joey’s Gym. Liam and his friends had a great time!

Here’s some “I let my husband use my iPhone” photos from the party.

Yes, more than one photo for this entry.

Day 160 – Plenty Of Bandaids – 37th Year Photo/Moi Challenge

3 Jun

Today Secret Liam Pants cut the base of his thumb and sliced it pretty well.

There were lots of tears and me taking care of him. I have to admit I enjoy when the kids prefer me when they’re injured or sick. I even get jealous when they want daddy. Yes, I get jealous.

After the tears subsided today and the bleeding stopped and the bandaid applied these mysterious injuries popped up and well thanks to the overpriced Disney Cars Bandaids we have many of every “injury” was cared for.

Sometimes you just need to let little ones feel so loved and taken care of even when the injuries aren’t real.

Recycle, Reuse, Party Time!

3 Jun

partybag

Finished the party bags for Super Secret Liam Pant’s “World According to Liam” party this weekend.

I made it easy and did something useful…I think…

Party bags are filled with activities to keep the kids busy a little when they are home.

I made the bags using paper lunch sacks we already had.  I found on Etsy the Donald Duck Hats & tape.  I found in the bargain bin at Michael’s the Spider Man party favor bags and well cut out shapes to make the Spider Man bags.  I used my own Thanks stamp.

For the inside I used:

  • Table Settings that are Superhero inspired and I broke apart the mat.  There are Superhero masks, Compases, Bow Ties, Pirate Eye Patches, and Superhero bracelets. (Had these)
  • 3 Crayons by randomly choosing three out of three crayon boxes I got.  Sometimes too many crayons are just too many. (Bought 3 boxes of crayons)
  • Tattoos of the Avengers (Bought)
  • Superhero stickers (Had)
  • Hot Wheel stickers (Had)
  • A cup for the child to keep with either Mickey Mouse Club House, Super Man, Spider Man, Avengers, or Disney Cars. (Bought)
  • Coloring book page from a Avengers Coloring Book. (Had)
  • Debating on a mini bag of M&M’s so who knows.

I figured this was a great way to save some money and use the things I over bought from last year or items I bought over the last year that Liam didn’t want to use at that moment I wanted him too.  PLUS this was all within the theme of the party.  It’s all Liam’s favorites.

I’m always looking for ways to reuse or recycle and I think I did a good job this year.

Day 153 – Now That It’s Done – 37th Year Photo/Moi Challenge

27 May

I did it. I’ve made the party favor bags. I had to get use out of these lunch bags so I thought use them. I made Spiderman and Donald Duck bags because the theme is “The World According To Liam” and well these are two of his favorite characters. You can also see in these photos that I’m preparing a little superhero fun for the bags. Can’t wait to do more. I think these came out perfect. Perfect for someone not too domestic but getting better with each DIY craft.

OK I Understand I’m Not The Cool Mom BUT

27 May

I’m so much more than the cool mom.  To prove it I’m going to tackle this list of 100 things to do with your children in Los Angeles even if it takes me a couple of years.  Heck I’ve already done 17  with the Tween Princess or Super Secret Liam Pants and though I’d like to repeat some there are 83 more things to enjoy either with both kids or based on what it is with either the girl or the boy.  Here’s what we’ve done so far:

  1. Had brunch at Paradise Cove.
  2. Picked our own veggies at Underwood Family Farms.
  3. Saw a movie at El Capitan.
  4. Road the Ferris Wheel at Santa Monica Pier at sunset.
  5. Played at the Noah’s Ark exhibit at the Skirball.
  6. Registered with  Central Casting and both kids were extras.
  7. Watched a live taping of a kids show.  Yeah for school auctions and VIP tapings.
  8. Ditch school for Disneyland.
  9. Buy a season pass to a Amusement Park (hello Disneyland)
  10. Wander Huntington Gardens.
  11. Attend story hour at Central Library.
  12. Take part in Dia de los Muertos Festival at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
  13. Tour the Queen Mary.
  14. Go to the LA County Fair.
  15. Los Angeles Festival of Books.
  16. Gospel Brunch at House of Blues.
  17. Rent a family bicycle at Balboa Island.

Now, just that we’ve done these things doesn’t mean we won’t again BUT it means we have more adventures to look forward to in other locations and I’ll blog about them and how we did them Cheap and Fun for all.

buzz

This photo is an example of the fun at Disneyland one mother can have taking down her daughter on the Buzz Lightyear ride.  Looking forward to so much more fun!

Any other ideas on what we should do with a toddler and a tween in Los Angeles after you’ve gone over the list?

Apraxia Day May 14, 2013

14 May

Today was the 1st recognized day for Apraxia. This past year our son was diagnosed with Apraxia. He is doing so much better with two days of speech therapy per week. His vocabulary is growing. When he gets very happy or upset his words disappear.

Today friends and family wore blue and white in support of today.

Love all the support and looking forward to Super Secret Liam Pants beating Apraxia!!

Day 134 – Outdoor Weather – 37th Year Photo/Moi Challenge

8 May

It’s that time of year where I love an enclosed front patio at our home. My little boy full of energy loves to play and here is where we can all relax and enjoy the nice weather and not have to worry about said little boy wanting to run down the street. For some odd reason he can do so much out here and hide and be a Superhero. Nice.

This is his home he drew. OK it’s not your typical home BUT its the one he created and I love it.

Day 114 – X-Rays & Anemia – 37th Year Photo/Moi Challenge

18 Apr

From a limp to Anemia…our night with Secret Liam Pants.

When we arrived at Urgent Care he flirted his way into everyone’s heart and let them know what a superhero he really was.

I was worried that his limp had to do with his Mild Hypotonia because he didn’t show any pain but his limp was odd.

He loved getting X-Rayed. Yes, you read that right. He was Iron Man getting his pictures done, top secret images done.

Turns out his bones are fine but he’d been there 7 months ago and still weighed 26 lbs.

Long story short he’s anemic and has to cut out some dairy and gain some weight. He needs to take iron and see his pediatrician next week. This photo is of Bubbas life for the next couple of weeks. Hopefully this does help.

Oh the life of a Superhero!!!!!

Day 103 – Birthday Parties – 37th Year Photo/Moi Challenge

7 Apr

Liam was invited to a birthday party in the valley and he had a great time. I took these pictures during the music time which was great too.

Yeah Birthday Parties where boys can have fun with their friends and moms can catch up with friends they don’t get to see too often.
